A step into history...
The Château d’Hauteville sits on a plateau, nestled among orchards and woods – a superb position with a breathtaking view of the Lake Geneva and the Alps beyond. The property is situated just one hour by road from Geneva, with its international airport. It takes only 20 minutes to drive to Lausanne, the capital of the Canton of Vaud, and only a few minutes to Montreux or Vevey. Built in the 18th Century, it is one of the largest and most prestigious properties around Lake Geneva.
Discovering the Spirit of Hauteville
The Château is approached along the Avenue of Elms. The property covers some 27 hectares and is surrounded by hundred-year-old trees, woods, beautiful alleys, French-style formal gardens and 18th century fountains. The front of the Château, which overlooks the terrace and the gardens, is decorated with stucco, as is the rear facade. The main windows of the Château face South towards the lake and the sun. This preserves the privacy of the occupants, leaving the other side to visitors and tradesmen.
The Château d’Hauteville has large, beautiful gardens and outbuildings. The gardens have changed very little since they were laid out. A two-story greenhouse that dates back to the 19th century has been refurbished several times. The vineyards are still quite substantial. One of the buildings contains beautiful stables, cellars and a press-house. A little further away, near the Château entrance is the building originally intended as a staff residence and opposite is a barn.
